EMV Chip Cards

EMV Chip Card

Using a chip card is easy:

1. Insert your card, face up and chip end into the chip-enabled terminal.

2. Leave the card in the terminal during the entire transaction.

3. Follow the instructions on the screen, and either sign your name or enter your PIN as needed. Be sure to remove your card and take your receipt when the transaction is complete.

Peach State’s VISA® credit and debit cards now come with built-in chip technology. (Credit cards will be rolled out first; debit cards will be coming in 2016.) This gives you greater fraud protection when you use your card at a chip-activated terminal. Your new card is not only more secure – it’s also easy to use. Here’s what you can look forward to as a cardholder.

Enhanced fraud protection.

When you use your card at a chip-activated terminal, the embedded chip generates a one-time use code. This code is virtually impossible to counterfeit and helps reduce in-store fraud.

Global acceptance.

More merchants are accepting chip transactions every day. Whether you check out using chip technology or swipe your card, you can pay with confidence wherever VISA® credit or debit cards are accepted.

Easy to use.

The terminal you’re using will prompt you to insert the card if the merchant is chip activated. If the merchant is chip activated, then you will be required to insert the card instead of swiping it. If a merchant is not yet chip-activated, you can continue to swipe your card and enter your PIN (for debit transactions). Or select CREDIT (for VISA® credit cards) and sign for your purchase if necessary.
